I am all for learning about serial killers and how they tick. I truly believe that this man should have been institutionalized as a child and stayed there. I think this is the ONLY person I have learned about and studied that I feel that way about. There is a warning at the top. Here it is again. This article is not for the weak. Be aware.
Richard Trenton Chase was born May 23, 1950, in Sacramento, California. His father was a strict man. Oftentimes, he was physically abusive toward Richard and did not really help him. Richard showed signs of mental illness at a young age. It was ignored as stated. He was disturbed and unhappy as a child.
His symptoms would only grow worse as he hit adolescence. He would set small fires, frequently wet the bed, and even tortured animals. These habits are sometimes called the Macdonald trade, or the triad of sociopaths. Dad ended up kicking him out. He did what most do. He turned to alcohol and drugs. His habit ended up turning into substance abuse. The use of Marijuana (not this drug) and LSD made his mental illness worse.
