This name may stick out to you. He was recently, in 2017 arrested for the crimes that he committed in the 70’s and 80’s. He was 72 years old when he got arrested. This man went decades without being caught. Current DNA technology was what finally got him caught. Let’s now learn a little bit about the man who is the Golden State Killer.

Joseph James DeAngelo Jr was born November 8, 1945, in Bath, New York. His dad, Joseph James DeAngelo Sr was a sergeant in the United States Army. Joseph Jr had 2 older sisters Connie and Rebecca and a younger brother John. When they were living in Germany, his dad was stationed there, Joseph Jr witnessed the rape of his sister Connie. 2 airmen had raped her in a warehouse. He was younger when he witnessed it. That will leave a scar on anyone at any age. His sister Rebecca had mentioned that Joseph Sr abused Joseph Jr growing up. In high school, he played on the Junior Varsity baseball team. He received his GED in 1964.

Now as a teenager, he did commit some burglaries, mail theft, and tortured and killed animals. To me, seeing someone as a teen torturing and killing small animals that right there says that person needs help.
