I honestly never heard of this person before I started my research. What I found is interesting. He had a tragic childhood starting a birth. He also had a tragic end. He was the original Irishman. Let’s get started and learn about Danny.
Daniel “Danny” John Patrick Greene was born on November 4, 1933, in Cleveland, OH. He was the son of John and Irene Greene. Irene sadly passed away due to medical complications just a few days after Daniel’s birth. John was devastated losing his wife. He began to drink his sorrows away. Which we all know is not a good thing to do. John then placed young Daniel in the care of Parmadale Children’s Home. He then spent some time as an orphan, in a Catholic orphanage. They then found a permanent home for him with his paternal grandfather.
He dabbled in delinquency in his youth. He dropped out of high school and joined the U.S. Marines. It was in the Marines that he learned to box. He earned a reputation as an alley-fighter. As he became an adult, he did mellow out to a point. He always had a great passion for his Irish heritage, even as a child. When he became an adult, he was known as a character. He was smooth-talking, charismatic, and vain. He married twice in his life and had 5 children.
