Al Capone was always one of my favorite gangsters. I did a paper on him back in high school. He is the only gangster that I ever actually knew things about. Now, I know he is not the most interesting or one that went out and did a lot of the work but that didn’t matter to me. He was just one that was fun to write about in school. Now, that I am deep diving into others he is still one that I like. To me, the most interesting time for this man was his time at Alcatraz. Now, let us learn about Al “Scarface” Capone.
Born January 17th, 1899 in Brooklyn, New York Alphonse Gabriel Capone was born. His parents immigrated to the New York from Naples in 1893. Al was the 4th child out of 9 kids. His siblings are Frank Capone, Ralph Capone, Richard James Hart, Umberto Capone, Ermina Capone, Mafalda Capone, Matthew Capone, and John Capone. Al attended school until 7th grade. He was expelled/dropped out at the age of 14. He was expelled after he strike a teacher. The teacher hit him first, so he decided to hit her back. Not the best thing to do, but he did what he did.
After leaving school he worked a variety of odd jobs. He worked as a candy store clerk, a bowling alley pinboy, a laborer in an ammunition plant, and a cutter in a book bindery. He did these all while he was in two “kid gangs”. The gangs he was in were South Brooklyn Rippers and Forty…
