Alcatraz Prison Life, part 2.
More of a look into prison life at Alcatraz

Before I start in what is part 2 of Alcatraz prison life, I just want to say I learned a lot doing all my research. Let’s dive back in to prison life in Alcatraz.
Inmates had to wear the same uniform most of their time there. This consisted of a blue shirt, which had to be worn sleeves down, and the top button had to be undone. Blue and white pants with a belt and shoes. It was a requirement to wear it the way listed above.
They were allowed to have some personal possessions from home. They had to list the possessions on a property card. Which, unlike other prisons, this was a very nice thing that they allowed. That way, even while in prison they had a little bit of home with them.
When Alcatraz first opened, there was a silence rule. No inmates were permitted to speak at all. That changed. Prisoners and administrators thought that was too strict. It then became, they were not to talk loudly. They were not allowed to run in the prison as well.
Prisoners at Alcatraz had only 4 rights. Those rights were food, clothing, shelter, and medical care. Everything else was a privilege that they had to earn. Privileges included working (not counting normal prison chores), having visits from family, access to the prison library…
